"In their preface editors Sahani and Samir (both with Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital) admit to some initial reservations when the publisher approached them for this project (basically, they thought it might be redundant); they describe their enlistment in the project when they understood its combination of online platform and precisely conceived text; and, finally, they confess to having fun and learning a great deal while shaping the work of more 130 contributors. Arrangement is in two volumes, beginning with imaging techniques and then proceeding to anatomically focused sections. Each of 136 chapters has been prepared according to an appropriate template for technique, anatomy, or pathology; numerous boxed summaries and tables offer quick reference to important topics; and suggested readings and references are included. Approximately 2,500 excellent quality images illustrate the text. The online platform (titled ), providing electronic access to the contents, is included with purchase."

Wonderful book

As an abdominal radiologist at a cancer center, I find this book to be an excellent reference, an enjoyable read, and an indispensable addition to my library.
The book is organized by organ system, with additional chapters on imaging techniques. There are tons of high quality images (with arrow annotations!) in addition to interspersed color drawings which nicely illustrate concepts.
The organ systems are broken down into logical chapters - for example under Pancreas, there are chapters on "Imaging", "Normal Variants", "Solid Masses", "Cystic Lesions", "Acute" and "Chronic Pancreatitis", and "Diffuse Pancreatic Disease".
Multiple tables, imaging algorithms and "key point" boxes abound. For example, an algorithm on "Practical Approach to Pancreatic Cystic Lesions" makes quick work of the potentially difficult task of deciding when to recommend follow-up versus intervention.
Also, this book comes with online access so you don't have to lug the two volumes with you. (Minor criticism: I would have preferred the images in the online access to automatically be full size instead of having to click on them to enlarge them.)
Overall, I highly recommend this book!

Great book!

I bought this book couple days ago... truly, I was in doubt at first thinking about buy it or not... But after free preview trial at [...], I decided to get it immediatly!
I'm a general radiologist who face abdominal imaging cases in a daily manner, and my bible for this section was Federle Diagnostic Imaging Abdomen. But this book is much better! The material and topics are organized in impressive pattern, information is not only bare facts and sentences, but greatly written text that contains useable information which is pleasure to read. In addition to many presentable images, you'll find an amazing box titled: What the Referring Physician Needs to Know in addition to Key Facts and Classical Signs boxes at the end of each charpter, with customized summary of the provided information.
I highly recommend this book for all colleagues who deal with abdominal imagimg in daily practice.
