Oddly beautiful.

I've always wanted to read "A Clockwork Orange," but never had the chance. Finally, after a few years, I decided to get around to it. I'm sure glad I did! This story brings us the life of a young boy full of corruption... We learn about his mischievous thoughts and actions and eventually his own mishaps.

This book can be hard to understand, but after a while you'll pick up on the "nadsat" slang. If you're not very fond of violence, I wouldn't recommend you to read this novel. However, if you're eager to learn about the life of a criminal and have an open mind when it comes to wrongdoers, this book might just grab your attention.

I don't want to say too much for I might give away too many details, but I must say I so enjoyed this book. Though it is a wonderful piece of work (even art), the reader mustn't see the protagonist for what he seems to be. My advice is to read this book with an open mind and consider every detail you come across. There's plenty of insight to obtain from this story and I hope you find it as fascinating as I did.

I would not recommend this for young teens or children

It is a dark, interesting story, but may not be accessible to some due to content. There are a lot of Russian words in this book. Some of them are explainable by context, but most aren't. I can't speak from the perspective of a pure English speaker, because I happen to know both Russian and English. The content can be very dark and explicit at times. I would not recommend this for young teens or children.

Not for the faint of heart... but that's not a bad thing.

I love this book. It gives a realistic view of the future, and it's possible darker societal changes that can be seen today, roughly 50 years after the book was first published. It includes the british ending, which is the way the book is supposed to end, compared to the lesser philosophical Kubrick ending that the U.S. was initially given. I will read this book dozens of times over, just because i enjoy Alex's charismatic and vulgar demeanor to provide more depth, reality, and complexity than anything found in modern media's characterization of the rebellious teenager. The story criticizes socialism, democracy at times, meanwhile pointing out our flaws as human beings to appreciate the arts of past generations, with just the right amount of satirical humor to keep the reader invested. It's a hard book to read, yet i challenge you to put it down after reading the first page. This book is a work of art. Thank you Anthony Burgess

"In their preface editors Sahani and Samir (both with Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital) admit to some initial reservations when the publisher approached them for this project (basically, they thought it might be redundant); they describe their enlistment in the project when they understood its combination of online platform and precisely conceived text; and, finally, they confess to having fun and learning a great deal while shaping the work of more 130 contributors. Arrangement is in two volumes, beginning with imaging techniques and then proceeding to anatomically focused sections. Each of 136 chapters has been prepared according to an appropriate template for technique, anatomy, or pathology; numerous boxed summaries and tables offer quick reference to important topics; and suggested readings and references are included. Approximately 2,500 excellent quality images illustrate the text. The online platform (titled ), providing electronic access to the contents, is included with purchase."

Wonderful book

As an abdominal radiologist at a cancer center, I find this book to be an excellent reference, an enjoyable read, and an indispensable addition to my library.

The book is organized by organ system, with additional chapters on imaging techniques. There are tons of high quality images (with arrow annotations!) in addition to interspersed color drawings which nicely illustrate concepts.

The organ systems are broken down into logical chapters - for example under Pancreas, there are chapters on "Imaging", "Normal Variants", "Solid Masses", "Cystic Lesions", "Acute" and "Chronic Pancreatitis", and "Diffuse Pancreatic Disease".

Multiple tables, imaging algorithms and "key point" boxes abound. For example, an algorithm on "Practical Approach to Pancreatic Cystic Lesions" makes quick work of the potentially difficult task of deciding when to recommend follow-up versus intervention.

Also, this book comes with online access so you don't have to lug the two volumes with you. (Minor criticism: I would have preferred the images in the online access to automatically be full size instead of having to click on them to enlarge them.)

Overall, I highly recommend this book!

Great book!

I bought this book couple days ago... truly, I was in doubt at first thinking about buy it or not... But after free preview trial at [...], I decided to get it immediatly!
I'm a general radiologist who face abdominal imaging cases in a daily manner, and my bible for this section was Federle Diagnostic Imaging Abdomen. But this book is much better! The material and topics are organized in impressive pattern, information is not only bare facts and sentences, but greatly written text that contains useable information which is pleasure to read. In addition to many presentable images, you'll find an amazing box titled: What the Referring Physician Needs to Know in addition to Key Facts and Classical Signs boxes at the end of each charpter, with customized summary of the provided information.
I highly recommend this book for all colleagues who deal with abdominal imagimg in daily practice.
