Good reference but poor production

This is a comprehensive and authoritative text describing the problems that can affect concrete, and how they can be recognised petrographically. It has a valuable set of 83 colour plates appended that are referenced in the text. These are reasonable quality, but the numerous black and white images spread throughout the text are very poor quality in this edition (which was transferred to digital printing in 2005). They are mostly too dark to discern details, which in a book that costs as much as this does is unacceptable.
