About the Author

James D. Taylor serves as the chairman of the IEEE Ultrawideband Radar Committee. He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the Virginia Military Institute in 1963 and master’s degree at the Air Force Institute of Technology and served as an officer in the US Army and Air Force until 1991. During the 1980s he worked with the defense planners who promoted nonsinusoidal radar systems and coined the term ultrawideband. After retiring he edited and co-authored Introduction to Ultra-Wideband Radar Systems (1995) and Ultra-Wideband Radar Technology (2000) for CRC Press. He served as editor and lexicographer of IEEE STD 1762 Standard for Ultrawideband Radar Definitions. He lives in Ponte Vedra, Florida, USA as a gentleman engineer, UWB radar consultant, and technical writer.

Personal and Social History of England in WWII

This book was quite a surprise! I was expecting a rather fluffy paean to Vera Lynn, but while it incorporated some of her comments and experiences, it was mostly a social history of the civilians in England in WWII. More than half pictures, very readable (co-written by Robin Cross) and comprehensive, it gave me a lot of information I didn't know, and I'm pretty knowledgeable on the subject. Later generations of English, and NO Americans, have any idea how hard England had it during the war. Bomb damage was more extensive, social upheaval more wide-spread (population displacement, evacuations and different classes thrown together), rationing more severe and longer-lasting, than I had realized. Even so, I'm sure this is a rather rosy picture of conditions, but it certainly opened my eyes. Also, I had not realized that women were actually conscripted, and comparatively universally, too. I'm looking forward to reading more on the subject. As for Vera Lynn, I am a fan and very much respect the service she gave England during WWII and during the rest of her life. This book touches on her experiences, but is in no way an autobiography.

He plays guitar in Thunderheart, a band he formed with "Breaking Bad" co-star Dean Norris. -- Ken Eurell was born and raised in Queens, New York during the '60s. He was hired by the NYPD and at the age of 20. He was assigned the streets of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn for training, then assigned to the 75 precinct in the East New York section of Brooklyn. It wasn't until a fateful partner assignment years later in 1987 that Eurell was exposed to the darker side of the NYPD. Making the decision whether to cross over the thin blue line. After two years of criminal behavior as a police officer, Eurell began to write down his exploits into a memoir. The criminal activity continued for 3 years until 1992 when he was arrested with his partner back in 1987. Today, Eurell resides in Florida and remains married to his wife Dori of 31 years who stood by his side. Together they raised two successful children and enjoy spending time with their two grandsons.

This was an excellent book...much more then was covered in the documentary...very open and honest and held nothing back...I was a former federal agent and fully understand how these things can happen...great read!!!

A MUST HAVE, READS LIKE GOODFELLAS IN BLUE!

Powerful tale of not only true crime but true love as well. The authors tell us what it was like to be a police officer in the crime ridden 80s. Facing temptations ranging from alcohol and loose female cops to mounds of drugs and dirty money available for the taking.
Bless his wife for standing by her man through the craziness of it all and having the wherewithal to get outstanding legal representation to keep their family together.
I remembered reading about some of this in the papers but never realized the extent of the corruption. I'd recommend this book to any fan of law enforcement or true crime aficionados.

Excellent read!

I knew there was corruption in the New York Police Department back in the 80s but I never dreamed how bad it really was until I read this book. This was a real eye-opener for me as well as a real page turner. This is a very well written book and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes true stories as well as true crime.
