About the Author
Giulio Zambon’s first love was physics, but he decided to dedicate himself to software development more than 30 years ago: back when computers were still made of transistors and core memories, programs were punched on cards, and Fortran only had arithmetic IFs. Over the years, he learned a dozen computer languages and worked with all sorts of operating systems. His specific interests were in telecom and real-time systems, and he managed several projects to their successful completion.
Giulio’s career took him to eight cities in five different countries, where he worked as a software developer, systems consultant, process improvement manager, project manager, and chief operating officer. Since early 2008, he has lived in a peaceful suburb a few kilometers north of Canberra, Australia, where he can dedicate himself to his many interests and in particular to writing software and programming books. Simple and Direct, Yet Truly Focused

This is so simple, but it hits home. It's a different way to look at finances than most advisers give you. First look at yourself, then look at your money. It takes it from a Christian perspective, but it speaks to everyone, including non-Christians. It speaks to the modern day outlook of more, more, more, first, first, first. It reminds you what is important and helps put your priorities in perspective. This book first reminds you that what is important is your personal contentment, and how to live with what you have. It advises toward humility, self-respect, and personal obligations.Save for an emergency, don't get caught with huge credit card bills, no savings, and deep in debt. It advises you how to quit spending, look toward the most important priority; you pray to GOD about the bad times, why would you not pray about your money. You turn your life over to GOD for guidance and teaching, why not your money and sharing the blessings He has granted to you. This book gave me a new outlook on managing my money that no other book or blog on the internet has ever given. This is a great book to learn, study, and ponder a deeper connection with GOD from a point of view that very few actually advise. I know the bible says give everything you have to GOD, lose your life to Jesus, but I have never seen it written from a financial perspective that is so direct and simple.

Excellent treatment of transportation travel demand

This book is intended for serious graduate students who wish to learn demand analysis. This book is used as a text for the demand analysis course at MIT for 1st/2nd year grad students. Rigorous statistical and econometric background is a must preparation for this book. Includes very crisp and elegant proofs and dicussion. Impressive methodological treatment for demand analysis. Although all examples are drawn from the Transportation field, the content can easily be implemented for Marketing Science and other fields.

An overall good book that needs some update and expansion.

Two knowledgable authors gave in-depth treatments on the subject of DCM. The math is fairly easy to follow in most places. The biggest strength is a nice combination of theoretical and practical issues. The readers however should be benefitted from a new edition, which should include, among other things, extended exposures on ordered responses and grouped/aggregated data analyses with DCM. An introduction to the existing software and relevant issues should also be a plus.

A very good textbook for beginners

Has very detailed contents. So no need to worry if you are not that good at Math. It has a few examples about how to interpret your model outputs. It was a great help for my homework when I was taking a discrete choice modeling class. Actually, it was the designated text book we used for that class.

inspiring book

The book is inspiring, well written and wonderfully printed.
It is accessible as it is more like an art book than a technical
or mathematical book.

The choice of objects which were printed is rather
conservative: polyhedra and polytopes, three dimensional
curved objects, knots and surfaces. Some topics were inspired
by early pioneers of 3D printing like George Hart. There
are also example sculptures from artists like
Vladimir Bulatov or Bathsheba Gossman.

An appendix contains some comments on pictures, sometimes with
hints on where the inspiration comes from. Unfortunately a
bibliography is missing.
The first chapter contains some information how the photographs
were obtained. In an appendix there is some information on
how the objects were generated. It is however not a technical
"how to" book. This is smart, as such a book would be short lived.
It is also not a mathematical book. I would place it into the
art and graphics section as sculptures are a form of graphics.

Having seen a draft of an early version of the book, I felt
already then, it would become a nice book. As it is challenging to bring
mathematics to a more general audience, I'm surprised how well
it turned out. I approve of the perfect title as I had
co-authored in 2013 an article with a similar title and it really
hits the spot of the book: it is all about the art of
visualization of mathematical structures with an exciting new
technology.

Authoritative and highly readable

This is a very useful study of the history of the book (defined rather broadly) in Japan. It is well written and makes interesting even topics that at first glance seem inherently dull--the chapter on bibliographies and catalogs, for example. Kornicki combines extensive old-fashioned archival scholarship with a good sense for recent theory on such topics as the death of the author, media technologies, and the shifting history of reading practices.

Great book, info you can't just get anywhere. This book has 1.5 line spacing is the only thing that bothers me--it could've been a more compact size (one star off for that). However, if you are a die-hard note-taker, it would be great for that. The author is shieldoftheson on utube and has some fantastic sermons on there.
